Destinies can hold unexpected surprises. After a fifty-year quest, 82-year-old Betty Morrell finally reunites with her biological mother, 96-year-old Léna Pierce.

The story begins in 1919 when Léna loses her father and finds herself alone with her mother. Their life is marked by frequent moves until they settle in New York. At the age of thirteen, Léna gives birth to a daughter, Eva Mae, on February 11, 1933, in Utica, New York. Unfortunately, little Eva is placed in foster care at six months old.

Renamed Betty Morell in her adoptive family, Eva grows up in love, but the absence of biological ties leaves a void in her life. Years later, after the death of her adoptive mother, Betty discovers the truth about her origins through her aunt. Despite the happy years spent with her adoptive family, Betty feels the need to discover her roots.

In 1966, she embarks on a desperate search for her biological mother, contacting Utica hospitals and adoption agencies, but to no avail. Her quest is interrupted when life takes her to Florida to care for her own family.

It is her granddaughter, Kimberly Miccio, who takes up the torch of research in 2015. On Ancestry.com, she discovers a distant relative who puts her in touch with Milie Hawk, one of Léna’s daughters.

Betty, who has always dreamed of having siblings, discovers she has six siblings and that her mother is still alive. After an emotional call between Betty and Milie, Léna is informed of the discovery as she prepares for a bingo game near her apartment in Hallstead, Pennsylvania.

The long-awaited reunion takes place at Binghamton Airport in January 2016. Léna explains to Betty that she never stopped thinking about her and always tried to find her, but in vain until now.

Thus, two women, separated by fate for decades, are finally reunited, bringing with them a mix of emotions, questions, and long-awaited reunions.
